One word. One meaning.
In Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, SOCH means “to think” or “a thought”. As members of the South Asian Community we do believe that the way of combating the stigma towards mental health is to change the way our community “thinks” about mental health.
So let’s talk!
The first step towards understanding brain injury and increasing mental health awareness is to create a safe space to talk openly. Many studies have shown that South Asian immigrants in Canada experience mental health disorders sometimes higher than their peers. Some of the reasons include intergenerational conflict or stress of adapting into western society.
