Message from Service Canada: The Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) application process opened on June 20, 2025. People whose applications were approved before June 30 started getting their first payments on July 17. Later, a review found a mistake in how the system calculated applicants’ job income and the amount of income that should be exempt. Because of this error, some people who qualified for the benefit may have received either no payment or less money than they should have.Service Canada is fixing the problem and making arrangements to send out back payments. In the next few days, people who may be affected will get a letter in the mail saying their file will be reviewed. They will get another letter once the review is done.
